RUNNING A RED LIGHT CAMERA TICKET

when camera images result in a ticket

When a vehicle fails to stop before an intersection (or stop line) after the light turns red.

How it Works

  • The registered owner of the vehicle is issued a Notice of Violation (NOV) in the mail. At this stage it is considered a warning only. However the warning carries a $158 fine.
  • Options – 1. Pay the $158 fine by the due date with no points, court costs or reporting, matter closed. 2.  Fail to respond by the due date and the registered owner of the vehicle will be issued a standard traffic citation. The fine will more than double to $277 with added court costs. If you received a letter from us then you are at option 2. You are past the warning stage and the county has opened a standard traffic citation case against you.

  • Important: Claiming you never received the NOV in the mail is NOT a valid defense and will not work!
  • Important: the ticket date may be recent but the red light infraction may have occurred several weeks earlier.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I FAIL TO RESPOND TO THE TRAFFIC CITATION?

  • At this stage, a failure to respond will result in suspension of your license and holds placed on your vehicle registration. The amounts due could be sent to collections.
